What the two digits mean
Amazon Associates is not one programme. Each country runs its own, with its own account and its own tag, and appends its own two digits. A tag issued in one programme earns nothing in another — the link still works, which is exactly why the mistake survives.

Which is the catch worth knowing: fifteen of the twenty-two programmes share -21, so a matching suffix proves the tag is not from the wrong region — not that it is from the right store. Ireland publishes no suffix at all. Where these IDs come from
